The Specialty was on Saturday and it went fairly well with the help of the members. There were 48 dogs entered which was the highest number so far for the French Bulldog Fanciers of Canada and 18 of those were Specials. Strachan cut them to six females and six males and chose his winners from them. He commented that the dogs he judged at our Specialty were among the best he had judged in USA and Canada.
We had our dinner on Saturday evening but Strachan was the Best In Show judge that evening and he was not able to reach the dinner until about 8:30 or 9. The dinner was a smorgasbord so it was fine even though it was served to him late At our next Specialty, we will have the event on the Friday rather than Saturday. It will not be nearly as rushed as it was in 2007.
The silent auction was a success with lots of interesting Frenchie stuff and most of it was sold. 2008 should be even better. The show will be a week later in 2008 and so, hopefully, we should have a few more Americans involved.
The Non Regular and Altered Classes were supported by Brenda Anwyll, Glennie Shann and Barb Jamieson. We hope there will be more people involved in these classes in 2008 and in the future. The Juvenile Sweepstakes had a good entry of nine – Steve Eltinge was the judge.
